There are about 50,000 Australians who have been diagnosed with coeliac disease and an estimated 150,000 who still don't know they have it. Symptoms of the disease include occasional abdominal discomfort, bloating and a persistent sense of fatigue, anaemia, alternating diarrhoea and constipation, weight loss and irritability.  Right now, the only treatment for people with coeliac disease is a gluten-free diet.
